Wild Rose

Oil on canvas
11"x14"
commissioned

I like doing these close up flower paintings. This is painted off a photo my son took. We went for a picnic at Farragut State park. The bushes along Lake Pend Oreille were loaded with these delicate pink blossoms. I think that the purple shadows make this one interesting.

This is different than anything I've painted before. Doing the white on white was fun. I kind of like the abstract design . Merry Christmas!

I've always loved mint tea. I have mint plants in my herb garden, and always try to get some dried for winter. Brew a cup, pick up a book and you have the perfect way to relax!

Old Friends

Oil on canvas
16"x20"
$225
"What is REAL?" the Rabbit asked the Skin Horse one day. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, you become REAL. Generally, by the time you are REAL, most of your hair has been loved off, and you get very shabby."
Margery Williams, "The velveteen Rabbit"

The Teddy Bear was given to my son by a great-grandmother, the big Raggedy Andy was given to him by another great-grandmother(Oma). The little Raggedy Ann was one of my childhood friends given to me by my aunt. The books are also old friends of mine.

Susan and Annie

oil on canvas
16"x 20"
Private collection
These are dolls that my grandmother made for my twin sister and I when we were five years old. My doll is Susan, the one in the red coat. I think this is one of my favorite paintings. It reminds me of all the joy of those childhood days playing with my sister under the Aspen trees in our yard.
