Across the Water

Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

This is Yaquina Head Lighthouse in the distance. I did another close up painting of this lighthouse, but wanted to do another of this view. I have been studying atmospheric perspective. This is how you give paintings a feeling of depth and perspective. One of the ways to do this is by lowering the saturation of colors in the background and keeping objects close in value, save the bright saturated colors, and the dark darks, and the lightest highlights for the foreground.

Okay, I know I keep saying that "this one is my favorite" but I think this one is!! I love the beach and you've captured it so well in this work.
