Oil Painting of Field and Clouds

"Clouds over Strawberry field"
11"x14"
Oil on Canvas Panel
$155.00
Last week the kids and I went to pick strawberries at a local farm, Carver's Farm. It was a partially cloudy day and I thought these clouds were interesting. The berries were delicious and we picked enough to make lots of jam!

Oil Painting of Moon

"Moon rise"
Oil on Canvas Panel
11"x14"
$155.00
I could tell a couple weeks ago that we were going to have a dazzling sunset. There are too many houses surrounding us for me to get a good picture from my yard, so my son and I drove up the road a little to where there is open prairie. The sunset was very nice and I took some pictures and turned around to go when we saw this moon just coming up in the other direction. So close to the horizon, it looked enormous. I don't think that I half did it justice, but I loved the contrast of these muted and glowing colors.

Oil Painting of Mountain Lake

"St. Regis Lake"
Oil on Canvas Panel
11"x14"
$155.00
This is a lake we've been to quite a few times. It's just over the over the Idaho border into Montana by Lookout Pass. It is a nice easy hike. I painted this on a more muted red canvas than my previous red canvases and I thought it worked well.

Oil Painting of River

"Myrtle River"
Oil on Canvas Panel
9"x12"
Here is another painting on a red toned canvas. It gives the painting a nice warm glow. This old tree curved over the river gives interest to the composition. I also enjoyed all the color variations in the water. I am working to improve my brushwork by using a bigger brush for most of the painting. This helps to keep the focus on the bigger shapes and values, which makes for a better composition. I save the details and smaller brushwork until the very end and try not to over do it.

Oil Painting of Waterfall

"Myrtle Falls
Oil on Canvas Panel
9"x12"
$110.00
I am back from a wonderful vacation with family and ready to get back to painting. This is a Falls out of Bonner's Ferry, Idaho. I painted this one on a red toned canvas, something I've been wanting to try for a while. It is supposed to be good for landscape painting and gives a nice glowing compliment to greens. Usually I tone my canvases either a burnt umber or a blue-gray depending on my color scheme. I'll probably do some more experimenting with this.

Oil Painting of Northwest Landscape

"A Splash of Yellow"
Oil On Gallery Wrapped Canvas
16"x20"
$240.00

This is another landscape from the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge. I loved this meadow with the streak of yellow flowers. These colors seemed very saturated, but that's how bright it really was. I'm going on vacation until the 12th of August.
