I did a scene similar to this one this summer. I'd like to do a larger painting sometime but I'm trying different color schemes and compositions before I do. This one is grayed down alot from my first one. It is also cropped differently and has clouds instead of the moon. I think that I like the composition of "Moon over Lake Coeur d' Alene better", but like the less intense colors of this one.

I took a landscape workshop from a local artist and instructor Patsey Parsons this weekend. She had us work with a very limited palette. This is a study I started there that I finished up at home. It us done with just three colors plus white. It is surprising how much you can do with so few colors. It was a good learning experience.

I love these autumn days when the leaves are starting to turn and my roses are still blooming. I wanted to paint them one more time before we get a heavy frost which I know is just around the corner.
