Now that the weather has turned colder, I'm pulling out summer pictures to paint. We went on a family backpack trip this summer to the Goat Rocks Wilderness. The scenery was spectacular and so were the flowers. I think that it was about the closest you can get to heaven on this earth. I've been looking forward to painting it. I have a whole series of pictures that I want to paint.

We've had so many lovely fall days, I hate to see them go. I think all our leaves will be gone by the end of the week. I guess that's part of the lure of painting, to try to preserve and capture the beautiful things that pass my way. Sometimes it feels like there's never enough time to get it all down on canvas before it's gone. But then there is always new seasons, and scenes that come along. Oh, what a wonderful world we have!
