I have always enjoyed art. I am a daily painter and have been painting seriously for the last four years. I'm currently studying through the Virtual Art Academy. My favorite Medium is oil paint. I use water miscible oils , a new form of paint that has been modified to mix with water. They work as beautifully as traditional paints, and are as durable but are more environmentally friendly. I find much joy in the beauty of nature & simple things. It is a thrill to try to capture a part of life's exquisite splendor in light, shadow and color on canvas. The pieces of my Perspective Constantly changing With the twists and turns Of life A kaleidoscope view-- Ordinary bits Of life Ever new Ever beautiful With more Dimensions The longer I look
To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeded. I did this painting this last fall and was never satisfied with it. I was going through paintings recently and thought it had potential and so I reworked it and was happy with the result.
After I painted this I decided that it would have been better cropped a little more to make the tree line less symmetrical. Maybe I'll do a big one someday.
I have been on a roll painting pears lately. They are so beautiful in shape and color. This is my second attempt at this composition. The first one I painted the shadows too warm. These shadows are cooler and give a better contrast. I am trying to pay more attention to my warms and cools. Warm light has cool shadows and vice versa. I just bought some red anjou pears yesterday so I might not be done with pears yet.
This is much more traditional and realistic than my usual style. I typically prefer a little more impressionistic style with more visible brush stokes, but pears are such an elegant fruit, that this seemed fitting.
