I have always enjoyed art. I have been painting seriously for the last four years. I'm currently studying through the Virtual Art Academy. My favorite Medium is oil paint. I use water miscible oils , a new form of paint that has been modified to mix with water. They work as beautifully as traditional paints, and are as durable but are more environmentally friendly. I find much joy in the beauty of nature & simple things. It is a thrill to try to capture a part of life's exquisite splendor in light, shadow and color on canvas. The pieces of my Perspective Constantly changing With the twists and turns Of life A kaleidoscope view-- Ordinary bits Of life Ever new Ever beautiful With more Dimensions The longer I look
To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeded. This is another study from my workshop. We were painting off pictures of Patsey's. She had a black and white version that she wanted us to use more than the color picture to practice our values.
Here is another workshop painting. I did this one off a picture of Patsey's. We were working on our pattern of lights and darks and using a limited palette.
These are color studies that I did at the workshop I'm taking with instructor Patsey Parsons. We were practicing mixing greys with complimentary colors. Each one is done with the two compliments plus white. Complimentary colors, opposite each other on the color wheel, make such a variety of beautiful colors. Maybe it's a little like life and people. We are all so different, but together what a masterpiece we make.
